The laser emits a specific wavelength of light (755nm, 810nm, 1064nm) that is absorbed almost entirely by the dark pigment in your hair, not the surrounding skin.

Absolutely, when performed with the right technology. Indian skin (Fitzpatrick Type IV–VI) absorbs more laser energy than lighter skin, which makes wavelength selection critical. At Mediglo, the Alma Soprano Titanium and the 1064nm Nd: YAG mode of the Triton Diolaze are specifically designed for darker skin and have an excellent safety profile. We do not use Alexandrite-only lasers on tanned or naturally darker skin.
Most patients require 6–8 sessions for areas like underarms, arms, and legs, and 8–10 sessions for hormonally driven facial hair. Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart to align with the hair growth cycle. Maintenance sessions every 12–18 months are recommended for some patients, especially those with PCOS or thyroid imbalance.

Yes. The Soprano Titanium and Triton’s Nd: YAG modes are both safe on tanned skin. We do recommend avoiding fresh tan within 2 weeks before a session for optimal results. Most other clinics will refuse to treat tanned skin; we will simply use the appropriate wavelength.
The accurate term is “permanent reduction,” the FDA-approved language for a reason. Treated follicles are disabled and do not produce new hair. However, your body has dormant follicles that can be activated later in life by hormonal changes (pregnancy, PCOS, menopause). This is why occasional maintenance sessions are sometimes needed years later.
